Programme

A club programme of walks and activities is made up covering each six month period of each year, i.e the "summer" and "winter" programmes, and this is sent to you when you join, or you can view it by clicking on the Current Programme tab on the left, or you can dowload a printer friendly copy HERE.

  • The usual turnout for any particular walk/climb is about 8 to 15 members, on each of the three walk/climbs, which are organised every weekend, with an arranged leader for every trip.
  • All walks are by CAR unless otherwise stated. Members cars are used for transport, contributions are made to petrol costs.
  • We also have bus trips from October to March, as well as occasional Saturday bus trips .
  • There are also organised weekend trips for the three major annual public holidays, usually staying at SHYA hostels, though some members and friends may prefer staying at B&B instead.
  • In addition to the walks programme, the club also runs it's own hill skills, map reading and GPS instruction courses for club members, and has a programme of social events throughout the year. Check the programme/news page for more details.
  • All walks are graded for length and ascent, for full details click the link on the left of this page..
  • If you have any questions about any of the walks, please go to the enquiry page. Some of our walk leaders can be contacted directly, click HERE for more details.

Don’t have the map?

  • You can view the hills where the club will be walking at the Ordnance Survey Get-a map website or at wheresthepath
  • Enter the grid reference of the walk from the programme including the two prefix letters (for example by entering NN271066 you should view Ben Narnain) and press enter.
  • You can then view the area, zoom in and out, scroll the surrounding area and print off the map section.
